Yay! Please keep checking back with Parks Canada and the US NPS but looks like the Chilkoot Trail will finally open this season!

🎉 Congratulations to our friends at the US National Park Service (NPS) on successfully opening the American portion of the Chilkoot Trail for the 2025 hiking season! Despite the challenges posed by severe flood damage in 2021 and 2022, NPS trail crews have been working hard to rebuild tread, footbridges, and campsite so that hikers can safely enjoy the trail.

🛑 At this time, crossing the international border via the Chilkoot Trail is illegal. Canada Border Services Agency is determining if hikers and runners can meet their reporting obligations for legal entry into Canada. Continue to check back for more information.

The Hosford family has been in the Dyea area for a long time!

This is a picture of Frances "Jigger" Hosford and her 4 boys Fred, Pete, Mike & Ray. The picture was taken at the Hosford Sawmill on the Chilkoot Trail in the 50’s.
