Our April guests were wonderful. They left the following review on Airbnb:

This is the best Airbnb we have ever stayed and we only wish we could have stayed longer. The home was beautiful, cozy, and so huge. It was a sprawling space with so many windows and lovely touches. Our hosts were incredible. They were so easy to communicate with, they went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. And Oscar the cat was the best companion.

We are hoping Spring is finally here. At least the sun is out this morning. These are two photos of sunrise reflecting through the front door in April - today and several years ago.

Our History

The Vinegar Hill Inn was built in the 1840’s and has been in the Paul family since 1934. My grandparents bought the 50 acres and house in order to farm the land, as Grandpa had done all his life on his family farm in Fleming, NY.

Grandpa was also a carpenter. Over the 50+ years they lived there, he used materials left over from his construction jobs to repair and restore the house. In fact, there still are some old bleacher seats from Syracuse University in the barn.

My father and his 5 siblings grew up on the farm. Dad was an engineer by trade but learned carpentry from his father. After his mother passed away in 1990, he set about updating and continuing my Grandfather’s projects. The molding and woodwork in the bedroom, front hall and sun porch were all done by my Dad. In addition, he turned an old garage attached to the back of the house into the beautiful windowed room we call the “Snuggery.”

My husband, also a carpenter, is continuing the work of my father and grandfather. The fabulous coffered ceiling in the living room was his first project. There’s quite a bit more to do, but we are enjoying the process and love sharing the house and its history with our guests.
