🌊 So, how do you get to Smith Island? 🛥️

We get this question a lot, so here’s the most important thing to know:

You have to take a boat. 😂

There’s no bridge, no car ferry, and no Uber waiting at the dock. Getting to Smith Island takes a little planning—and it’s important to understand how you’re getting here BEFORE you book your stay.

There are two primary captains providing ferry service from Crisfield to Smith Island (Island Belle II and Captain Jason). We’ve included their information in the photos as well as some information for some other folks who MIGHT offer private charters.

Once your stay is confirmed, contact one of the captains and arrange your ferry transportation, preferably within a week or so before your arrival. Be sure to confirm the schedule for your specific travel dates.

A few things to remember:

⚓️ Ferry transportation is not included with your Pelican Cove reservation.
⚓️ You are responsible for making your ferry arrangements.
⚓️ Ferry schedules are very limited.
⚓️ The ferry will not wait for you if you’re late.
⚓️ Your vehicle stays on the mainland.

Smith Island isn’t a typical vacation destination—and that’s part of what makes it special.

The boat ride isn’t an inconvenience to getting here.
