This year marks a very special milestone on the 9E Ranch—25 years since Joan and Kent first opened the doors of the 9E Cabins. What began as a dream to share the beauty and peace of the ranch with visitors has grown into a tradition that has welcomed guests from around the world.
Three of the cabins carry the spirit of the land itself, built with cedar logs harvested right here on the ranch and pine floors made from the tall loblolly pines that have stood here for generations. Each cabin tells its own story—of craftsmanship, care, and the natural beauty of Texas.
In the early days, Joan prepared a breakfast basket for every guest, complete with fresh muffins, orange juice, and the now-legendary 9E Ranch eggs. For the first 15 years, this basket was a warm morning ritual, enjoyed on cabin porches overlooking the rolling countryside. Today, the tradition continues in a simpler form, with homemade muffins and coffee waiting in the cabins—an easy, cozy way to start the day.
Over the years, the 9E Cabins have hosted travelers from near and far—families, couples, writers, adventurers, and dreamers—drawn to the quiet beauty of the ranch. Many have returned year after year, becoming part of the extended 9E family. Their stories, laughter, and memories are woven into the fabric of the cabins themselves.
As we celebrate 25 years, Joan and Kent are deeply grateful for every guest who has walked through the cabin doors. The heart of the 9E Ranch remains the same as it was in the beginning: a place of rest, renewal, and connection to the land.
Here’s to 25 years of hospitality—and to the many more memories yet to be made on the 9E Ranch.
