If you've ever raved about our beds…that was Don.
If you saw the BIG red sleigh in Dec in our front lawn…that was Don.
If you took a pic on the red velvet, antique couch on our porch…that was Don. If you were at ANY Jamboree parade & heard the announcer…that was Don.

I already miss him so much. We all do.
I miss his vibrant, southern Texas voice.
I miss his constant smile and pure joy. I miss the way he boldly shared how he felt about others, especially the small businesses in our town.
I miss seeing him pass by daily, always keeping you on your toes with whatever he was driving, then stopping (mid-street) to brag about his amazing family, his travel adventures, and his plans for retirement that was just ahead.

Guests often describe Smithville as a Hallmark movie. If we're lucky enough for that to be true, then Don was a main character to us. He was the jolly gentleman who spent his life in this town and his days making other people feel welcomed and seen. He wouldn't think twice about stopping to introduce himself to a new face, sharing a Smithville tip or two, then bragging on EVERY business owner whose shop you happened to be standing in.

That was Don. And Smithville won't be the same without him.
I'll consider it one of the highlights of my life to have been able to call him a friend. He was an unwavering example of someone who truly made the world a better place…just by being in it. Thank you, Don, for the gift you were to our lives. If any of us here can live out even a fraction of the way you lived, loved, and cheered on others, then it will be our greatest honor to carry you with us...and hopefully make this world a little better too 💗

~ We love you Milton's Furniture & Family

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Don Mutschink, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and longtime business owner of Milton's in Smithville.

To have known him was an honor. To have loved him was a precious gift. To have been served and loved by him was a great privilege.

A Celebration of Life will be planned around his 70th birthday in September. There is a memory table at Milton's Furniture in Smithville if you would like to stop by and share a memory of him with the family.

We would like to thank everyone for their love and support as we navigate through this tough time.

In a world where the people shine just as much as the pie on a national stage, you’ll find yourself at Olde World Bakery. 🥧✨

Congrats to Smithville’s own Olde World Bakery, named one of “15 Small-Town Cafes Across America Where the Pie Is the Real Reason People Keep Coming Back.”

From breakfast and lunch to their sweet tea (obsessed), desserts, and homemade bread (jalapeño cheese) and most importantly, their amazing team - Olde World Bakery is the very definition of comfort food, served in a cozy space built with so. much. love. It feels like you've stepped back in time when you just stay a while...the Hallmark movie kind of experience!

Led by an incredible mother-daughter duo we’re honored to call friends turned family, every detail reflects the love they pour into their food and into Smithville every single day.

Congrats!! We love y’all so much!! 💗😘

You came for flaky crusts and sky-high meringue, not a warm hello. Across America, tiny cafes bake unforgettable pies while serving side orders of shrugs,
