Located northwest of Lake Tahoe, just 10 miles from Truckee, CA and right off of Interstate 80, Boreal / Woodward prides itself on being a community that is relaxed, comfortable, and confident, creating an atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Six lifts and two magic carpets service 41 trails; along with Boreal’s popular Tahoe Tubing snow tubing area, the only night-skiing in Tahoe (open until 9PM!) and an incredible beginner ski and ride program. Boreal is also home to Woodward Tahoe, California’s year-round action sports mountain playground with unprecedented outdoor parks, a 33,000 square foot action sports hub dubbed The Bunker, and a multi-week winter ski and snowboard learn-to program for kids. From tree-lined Cedar Ridge pow days and stunning sunsets from the summit, to the most creative Mountain Parks, and all the good groomers nothing beats Boreal Magic.

So what happens when you open up the whole playground?

We spent the day at Boreal + Woodward for their annual Community Day to help find out! The day offered a place for everyone, whether that was a place to start, to progress, to push themselves, or just to play.

But the real story is bigger than one day.

It’s about creating opportunities for kids and families to get outside together, discover new sports and find their own version of progression. Because when you are building confidence, making connections, spending time together, and creating a community, the mountain is part of the wellness system.

And when those opportunities are available year-round, the possibilities grow. Summer can introduce snow families to mountain biking, pump tracks, and a whole new way to experience the mountain. And those same summer experiences can become a first step toward discovering skiing and snowboarding when winter arrives.

The mountain is the playground. And the playground is open year-round.
