I find it strange tat the people saying that we already pollute the underground water are the very farmers that are using roundup ready crops?
The land next to the Eicher property has a cave system and spring, that come out of land slated for Solar.
The solar designated land on Zimmerman not all but a portion is in the flood plain? I thought building in the flood plain was no longer legal FEDERAL LAW. No wonder the poles are 20 feet high.
At the meeting no one caught this but we need to point this out at the next meeting.

The Red Salmon are arriving at the Russian River. 800 have passed through the counter so far. with I am sure thousands stacked at the sanctuary.

WO, over 1 million reds in July plus over 125000 on the Russian in June. Big run in 2023 coming.

Decent news and good news on runs in Alaska at this point....
The Anchor River King Salmon numbers are higher than normal which corresponds to the 2015 run of 10,000 fish which occurred exactly 4 years after the 2011 Earthquake in Japan. It will be interesting to watch the run as it develops as the return was awesome that year and the return on the Kenai was up that year as I recall as well.

Going to watch the Animal Planet show tonite by Jeremy Wade on the declining King Salmon. I have already seen some nonsense. Jeremy fishing with a Fly Rod for KINGS?? FROM the bank? Almost impossible to do since there is no way to follow a big fish like the king on the Kenai. All banks from Skilak Lake down to the ocean in my experience are cut bank, and almost impossible to walk down to play a fish as big as 30 pounds in heavy current. HOPING it is a real show and not some put up job.

As if the Red Salmon run could not find a way to be strange this year they just never showed up. Supposedly just over 800,000 total but only 390,000 showed up by the end of July which most coming later in August. Problem is that the normal cut off for counts is the first week of August because the pinks show up in numbers that make the reds and pinks hard to separate. This year they counted through 2 weeks to get the 800,000 with larger numbers in August.???
The King Salmon counts were low so not a lot of netting occurred. We may get to see an increase in 4 to 5 years of the king salmon.
After several years of consistency the Red Salmon run has become somewhat unpredictable. Hopefully this will change. The red salmon on the Kasilof have been terrific, and replacing the Kenai somewhat , which may take some pressure off the Kenai. Lane Lahndt is working the Kasilof in June, and is having some good days starting normally around June 10th to Mid July if the Kenai run is not developing next year give him a call.
