Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours,

We are so grateful for a healthy & wonderful year, new guests and long-time friend visits, and the incredible privilege to open the doors of River Raven Sanctuary as a contemplative space—a place to unplug to plug in, coming home to yourself, resting in what is true and beautiful, remembering what matters most.

THANK YOU to each of you who crosses time and place with us.

We will be semi-hibernating this winter, dreaming into 2026 and beyond—imagining River Raven Sanctuary Lodge as a place for extended retreat, for delving deeper into the practices that sustain us, for cultivating community and leadership around silence, presence, and mystery. And always the wildness of salmon and setting! More to come in late January. 💖

We are so excited to be chosen as a host for the “Just Our Type” Public Typewriter! This inclusive community project collects musings from neighbors around our community, offering the opportunity to share wisdom, observations, a good joke, a favorite quote, or a burning question with others who also live & love here on the Central Peninsula.

Meezie Hermansen, fisher poet & vintage typewriter enthusiast brought us this awesome way to connect, Building Something Bigger Together!

Entries may be included in a November exhibit at the Kenai Art Center as well as in a future print publication.

Feeling excited with final prep to welcome the women arriving today for their Casting for Recovery Alaska Kenai Peninsula weekend retreat to connect, learn to flyfish, get outdoors on the river, and be gently taken care of by all the volunteers and this special healing place—River Raven Sanctuary Lodge!

I’ve been saving peonies in the walk-in fridge from Funny River Peonies 💖 and new tablecloths from Northcountry Fair bring even more blooms into this space!

I’m looking forward to hosting and stories around the firering, dock, in the great room, during meals, on the river, in restful dream time, and all the in between moments.

Kindly join me to pray and bless everyone who will grace this space this weekend. May time be healing and bring hope and wholeness to every woman who crosses the threshold and extend to her loved ones and health care team.
May our time ripple with grace and bless women who’ve come in years past, to those who couldn’t come this year, to all the other women who will retreat at different C4R retreats throught the country, to those beauties no longer with us, and ripple into the future to those who will gather in coming years.
May the mighty Kenai River, wild salmon, 🌈 trout, and Dolly Varden bring wonder and awe to life.
May Spirit glow in abundance as we each open the present, however it is showing up, giving permission for light and love to glisten awakenings and miracles. 🫂💝

Celebrating so much goodness happening at River Raven Sanctuary Lodge this week 💝
Feeling grateful for wonderful clients and guests—many who’ve been returning for years with this annual event! They were out the door early for their 6:00 am fishing date for Coho salmon on this gorgeous morning.
As a small business owner, I’m thankful for all the local businesses who help make this lodge so special—Chef Willow and her team from The Goods, adult beverages with Bailey & ladies from Duck Inn, Funny River Peonies, my All Spruced Up cleaning crew, a new sign on the road, everyone who worked on the deck renovation, and the beauty of August in Alaska!

Mel’s newest location is a short walk away! And the warm chocolate chip 🍪 today was delish!

It’s happening! Our new Soldotna café location is open for a soft launch this week and next!
We are located next to the Bridge Lounge in the credit union one building.
We will be open from 8-3 M-F for a couple of weeks while we get our new staff trained.
For a little while, our menu will be limited to baked goods, breakfast and full espresso bar. Eventually we will be operating with the same menu as our K-Beach Cafe.

Come say hi, grab a coffee, and enjoy a cozy seat while we find our rhythm.
This is a space we hope you’ll feel at home in.
