Why did we name them Pigfoot Inn and Pigfoot Event Gallery?
It’s a question we get a lot, and the answer is rooted right here in Somerset’s history.
Just a short walk from the Inn and Event Gallery is historic Pigfoot Square, once an important stop along Zane’s Trace, one of Ohio’s earliest major travel routes.
In the early 1800s, settlers traveled through this area as they made their way west. Somerset founders John Finck and Jacob Miller built taverns along the route, offering food and lodging to travelers passing through. We even named two of our guest rooms, the Finck Room and Miller Room, in their honor.
More than 200 years later, people are still traveling to Somerset to stay, gather, and experience this historic little town.
When we chose the name Pigfoot, we wanted something that could belong only here. It’s a nod to the travelers who came before us, the history within walking distance of our doors, and the town we’re proud to be a part of.
Today, you can stay at Pigfoot Inn, gather at Pigfoot Event Gallery, and take a short walk to historic Pigfoot Square to see a piece of the history behind our name.
