Welcome to ๐๐น๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ'๐, one of downtown South Haven's longtime restaurantsโand a place where the building is almost as interesting as what's on the menu.
The story starts way back in ๐ญ๐ด๐ต๐ฒ.
That's when this grand brick building at Phoenix and Center streets was constructed to house Citizens State Bank.
And it wasn't just a bank.
The original building also held shops, offices and even space where ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐๐๐ต ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐ก๐ฒ๐๐ was printed.
Fast-forward decades and the Ruppert family transformed the historic space into the Clementine's we know today, preserving details like the ornate woodwork and tin ceilings.
But here's our favorite part:

They're actually used for storage.
The dining room is also packed with antique relics and South Haven memorabilia, so there's plenty to look at while you're waiting for the real local legend to arrive:

Clementine's hand-dips them, fries them golden brown and serves them stacked on a ๐ฒ-๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐ต ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ญ๐ฎ-๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐ต ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ด with house-made ranch.
And apparently Michigan eats A LOT of them.

The current ๐๐น๐ฒ๐บ'๐ ๐ข-๐ฅ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ฟ piles a charbroiled burger with American cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce and those famous homemade onion rings.
