Big news for South Lake Tahoe 🏔️ 🏡

The City Council has approved an amendment to the Vacation Home Rental ordinance, officially lowering the cap to 900 VHR permits. After several motions failed to gain majority support, a revised proposal passed with votes from Councilmembers Roberts, Jinkens, and Horgan.

The ordinance will have its first reading on March 10 and must pass a second reading and formal adoption before taking effect 30 days later. This decision reflects the ongoing effort to balance tourism, neighborhood impacts, and long-term housing availability for local residents.
