Vermont got hit by over 8" of rain in some places, but the SunCottage and South Woodstock in general fared very well. Graham's pool survived the massive run of water though the lower field of the main house overflowed and is full of washed down stones.

The hops are growing like crazy and climbing up to the roof. The view through leaves from the bedroom windows is magical.

The flowers are riotous and there's a new addition: a rowan tree or mountain ash. Famed in Celtic and Norse cultures for it magical powers to protect against evil and witchcraft, it also saved Thor from being swept away to the underworld, which is perhaps fitting considering the flooding the Green Mountains just gathered.

A nice Nor'easter blew in 21" of heavy snow over the weekend knocking out power all over the state. The SunCottage was off the grid for 48 hours but the two Tesla batteries came through with flying colors, powering the heat and lights right through the calamity.

Chips and whey just hit an all-time high. The lower tank that feeds the hot tub just hit 138.9 degrees. The feeder tank reached 111.3° (44.1 Celsius). Passive hot tub heating at its best! Amazing when you think that most domestic hot water heaters warmed by fossil fuels are regularly set to 125°. And their capacity is around 80-100 gallons. The wood chip set up totals 700 gallons.

Our last renters of the winter just checked out, left this great review and a painting!

“To break the mundane day-to-day of working in Boston we fled to the SunCottage. To say the past week was amazing is an understatement. We skiied for three days at Killington enjoying perfect spring conditions. We walked daily to the country store for muffins and coffee and enjoyed the sound of the stream as we worked. By night we relaxed in the hot tub and sauna and enjoyed an amazing dinner at the Ransom Tavern, the burrata was 10/10.

Our highlight was sledding on the back field. We took a work break and flew down the hill shrieking with joy - like children - just having a rare carefree adult moment.

You are providing people with a very special experience here in Vermont. Thank you!”
