Could you drink 1,000 beers at a bar? At the DolphinInnOBX we are always looking for unique places in the OBX. Last night we went out to dinner with local friends Ray and Denise at Jack Browns Beer and Burger Joint. We noticed some folks at the bar wearing unique shirts and jackets. I mistakenly thought it might be a motorcycle gang.

Turns out it was a celebration for people in their beer club. Once a year they get together to celebrate. At Jack Browns, they will keep track of all the beers you drink and then they celebrate you when you get over 1,000 beers. In this photo Saint Santa (I think all beer drinkers at this bar get the name "Saint") hit 5,000 a few days ago. The waitress told us that one guy managed to hit 1,000 in a year (he has an interesting job, but I can't say it publicly).

On Saturday, December 27, we decided to take an epic road trip along the Outer Banks to Ocracoke. We didn’t count on a reduced schedule on the ferry, but we did manage to get down to Ocracoke in time to have a beer, visit the British cemetery, visit the lighthouse, and get back in time to visit some of the houses that are battling the waves in Rodanthe. The car ferry did they get is free and it was a great way to spend time on a winter day.
