East Pig Cove Yacht Club Where we go to be reminded that the world is a beautiful place. This home on Capitol was built in 1970 something. It's been compared to the deck of a destroyer.

Located one of the islands in Boothbay Harbor, this home has been a part of the family since 1984, the culmination of many summers that Mom and Dad dedicated to getting for our own a little taste of heaven of earth. Dad and Aunt Mary spent their childhood summers on the other side of the harbor in Linekin Bay throughout the 1930s and 40s. There are three bedrooms downstairs which share a bathroom with shower. One of the bedrooms, though, has been converted into a permanent chapel. Upstairs is an open kitchen and living room along with the master bedroom and full bathroom. Tall wooden ceilings and windows facing South to the ocean make it a nice place to rest... when you can't be outside on the deck, which wraps around the Southern and Western sides of the house. The view is incredible and there is always a breeze, since the cottage is atop a rocky perch. Squirrel Island, Damariscove Island and all the boat traffic in between there and Cape Newagen, make for a pretty spot to observe life. The Cuckolds Lighthouse keeps watch three miles to the South. Ospreys, cormorants, seagulls, great blue herons and sea ducks abound. Seals make an occasional appearance. A considerable distance below the deck is the only private dock on the eastern half of Pig Cove, hence the unofficial name of this destination: East Pig Cove Yacht Club. The island itself used to be known at Pig Cove Island.

A little rain won’t stop us.
We’ll be open tomorrow (Sunday, September 27), rain or shine, and farm tours are still heading out as scheduled.
If the weather changes our plans, we’ll keep you posted here. Otherwise, we’ll see you at the farm.

We are devastated to hear of the passing of one of the kindest and most joyful friends of Southport General Store, Elliot Schwartz.

Elliot was always generous with his stories, his time, and his wonderful sense of humor. He never seemed annoyed by our endless fascination with his work as a figure skating judge. Instead, he always made time to share a story, answer a question, or simply catch up.

Elliot was a beloved staple at our Community Dinners and a wonderful co-teacher alongside his husband, Byron Cortez, during our Friends & Tacos nights this past winter. His warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit were woven into the fabric of our community, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Elliot, you were loved, and you will be missed terribly.

Byron, we are sending you so much love and wishing you peace and comfort in the days ahead. Our hearts are with you.
