The Osborne Inn was located on the point of the Lake Pleasant outlet (the Sacandaga River) in Speculator, NY. It was built by Will Osborne in 1901 and opened on April 28, 1902. Will suffered a baseball injury on July 4th 1902 and tragically died a few months later, leaving his wife Nora and three young children: William (10), Pamelia (8), and Robert (5). ness until her sons were old enough to take over. The Osborne Inn, Osborne Hotel, Osborne's Store, Osborne's Tap Room, and several other cottages and facilities became a most popular vacation spot in the Adirondacks until it's closing in 1963 and demolition in 1969. It's heyday came in the 1920's and 1930's as the site became a popular training location for professional boxers, including Heavyweight Champions Gene Tunney, Max Schmeling, and Max Baer.
