This weekend, Latimer Reservation had the absolute honor of hosting the Boxwell Old Timers group for their 9th annual gathering! 🌲🥩

​This incredible group of lifelong friends staffed together at Boxwell Reservation throughout most of the 1960s. Every year, they get together to catch up, tell stories, enjoy the outdoors, and—most importantly—eat incredible food!

​On this weekend’s menu: a massive seafood boil, custom homemade pizzas, cooked-to-order filet mignon, and hearty camp breakfasts to start each day. We had a blast hosting them, and here are a few of the crew gathered right outside the dining hall.

🌲 Outpost Night is HERE at NYLT! 🌲

​The excitement is real! Our patrols are packed, geared up, and waiting for their turn to step out into the wilderness for their overnight outpost adventure. This is where all their outdoor leadership, teamwork, and planning get put to the test under the stars. ⛺✨

​We also had a great day here at Latimer Reservation—we got a special visit from Michael Moore and Vance Lackey stopping by to check in on the team and see all the great leadership learning in action! 🤝

​And back at base camp... our hardworking staff is about to eat WELL tonight! 🤤

📸 NYLT MTC 031 Course Update!

​I had a chance to make the rounds across camp today to check in on all the patrols, snap a few photos, and see what everyone was up to.
​The energy across camp is fantastic! Everyone was in great spirits following lunch, diving right back into their team activities with tons of enthusiasm.

​🥢 On the Menu Tonight
Tonight, we’re all coming together in the dining hall for a big group dinner:

​Delicious Orange Chicken 🍗
​Fried Rice 🍚
​Crispy Spring Rolls 🥢

​It’s hard to believe, but this course is officially over halfway done! Time is flying by as these young leaders continue to grow, learn, and excel together.
​We’re so proud of the work they’re putting in, and we can’t wait to see all the parents on Friday!

Life at Latimer Reservation has been non-stop lately! 🙌

​We just wrapped up an incredible couple of weeks hosting the Cumberland Stake LDS Young Men and Young Women’s summer camp—full of fun, food, and fellowship.

​Now, we are gearing up for the next big adventure! The NYLT MTC-031 staff is on-site today doing final prep before participants arrive this Sunday. Big shoutout to Scoutmaster Scott Peebles and SPL Drayke Nyc for leading the charge! 🎒🦅

🌸 From Seeds to a Pollinator Paradise! 🌸

​Back in April, the Scouts of Troop 946 (Great Smoky Mountain Council) rolled up their sleeves for a special service project. Our mission? To bring some extra life and color to the front of the Tolbert Conference Center.

​Fast forward to today, and those tiny seeds have officially transformed into a breathtaking, vibrant zinnia garden! 🌿✨

​Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it has also become a bustling sanctuary for nature. On any given day, you can find the garden absolutely full of fluttering butterflies, buzzing bees, and zooming hummingbirds. 🦋🐝🐦

​We are so proud of the hard work our Scouts put into this project and love seeing how a little dirt, water, and teamwork can truly transform a space.

We are thrilled to welcome the Cumberland LDS Young Women’s group to Latimer High Adventure Reservation this week! 🌲🏕️

​We kicked things off right tonight with an amazing opening dinner: homemade pizza, fresh salad, and delicious brownies! 🍕🥗🍫

​A massive thank you and shoutout to Ms. Jacki and Ms. Stacey, who are already working incredibly hard in the kitchen cooking up some great food for everyone.

🏕️ What a fantastic weekend at Latimer Reservation!

​The NYLT MTC-031 team just wrapped up a highly successful Staff Development 3 (SD3) weekend, and the energy is incredible. Scott Peebles and his entire staff were working incredibly hard to get everything dialed in and perfectly prepared. We are officially on the countdown—youth participants arrive in just 3 short weeks! ⏱️

​A huge shoutout to our kitchen staff as well. They did an absolutely phenomenal job keeping everyone fueled and fed all weekend long. Keeping a hardworking staff happy and full is no small task, and they knocked it out of the park. 🍳🔥

​We can't wait to see this course come to life and welcome our future leaders!

A HUGE shoutout and thank you to Nick Sturtevant for an incredible project at Latimer Reservation! 🌲🦇

​Today, Nick and his son Asher came up to install some brand-new bat houses around the property, and they look absolutely great! Nick built these as one of his Wood Badge tickets for course MT-71—and as a proud Owl, he definitely brought the wisdom and craftsmanship to get this done! 🦉🪵
​This was a much-needed project that will give our local bat population a proper place to roost, hopefully keeping them off our buildings and porches.

​Thank you, Nick, for your dedication to the reservation, and a special thanks to Asher for being an awesome helper today! Check out the pictures of their hard work below. 📸👇
