Des Moines County Conservation awarded LWCF Grant to coninue Big Hollow improvements.

Last Thursday during a video meeting with the DNR to review this year's LWCF grants, Des Moines County Conservation was awarded our full request of $114,000 to continue concrete improvement on the west end of the full hook-up campground at Big Hollow Recreation Area. This 50% match grant, will paired with $74,000 of our existing REAP funds and $40,000 in donations earmarked for Big Hollow for a total investment of $228,000.

The RFP is being prepared, and will be released as soon as the grant contract is executed, with anticipated construction in late 2026 or early 2027.

Water is on to the individual sites. We will have to shut parts of the park off at times for minor repairs. $25/ night for full hook-up until March 31.

The Shooting ranges will be closed today 2/25 for berm maintenance.

Just a reminder that all of the water has been shut off in the park. Electric and sewer remain functional during the off-season.
