Galileo said, “Wine is sunlight, held together by water.” After a long hike, enjoy your favorite bottle of Sharp Rock wine by the beautiful, mountain fed Hughes River which runs through the foot of our farm or stay in one of our rental cottages and spend the weekend fly fishing in the stocked river, floating in the swimming hole, or lounging in the hammock reading your favorite book with a glass of our wine.

We wanted to let everyone know during the month of December our tasting room will only be open on Saturdays 12-5! This does not affect our rental Cottages! We are happy to ship for the holidays and a SRV Gift Card makes a great holiday/stocking stuffer gift!!

Everyone meet Maizie! It’s been almost two years since we lost our beloved Doc, our fourth Berner. For almost twenty years now, dogs have played an integral part of Sharp Rock. From Bo and Oliver to our last Berner Doc. We have loved each and every one of our wine dogs but our Berners seem to capture everyone’s hearts…including ours! Meet Weazy…a two and a half year old Bernese Mountain Dog we adopted from Compassion Animal Rescue. Maizie and her sisters were rescued by this amazing rescue. They are from an Ohio Amish puppy mill and at two and a half, they had no use for them. We are very grateful for rescues like them. Maizie fits in perfectly, has adjusted incredibly and given time, will be a favorite here at Sharp Rock!

Don’t forget your ticket if you plane to hike Old Rag!!

The Old Rag pilot program has been reinstated for the 2023 season beginning today, March 1 and will last through November 30.

Visitors to Old Rag Mountain, including hikers on the Saddle, Ridge, and Ridge Access trails, need to obtain an Old Rag day-use ticket in advance, in addition to a Park entrance pass. A total of 800 tickets will be available for each day; 400 will be available 30 days prior to the date of arrival, and the remaining 400 will be released five days in advance. Hikers must purchase their tickets online at recreation.gov before their arrival. Tickets are valid for the day of arrival only. A day-use ticket does not guarantee a parking spot, and entrance fees still apply in addition to the day-use ticket fee of $1.00.

Within the next few months park staff will share the data and provide an opportunity for additional public input. Park management will evaluate the results of the pilot project and adapt to a permanent system in the future.
