APPARITIONS AND GHOST ACTIVITY AT THE OLD ST. JAMES HOSPITAL IN BUTTE. MT
We recently investigated the Old St. James Hospital in Butte, MT along with S.L.A.S.H , Jennifer Von Behren - Medium, Eric Von Behren, Spookan Spirit Seekers and Scott Mercer .
The hospital was opened by 5 Sisters of Charity from Leavenworth, KS in 1881 to treat sick miners and the local poor.
It was expanded several times over the years until in 1962 it retired from medical services all together, after which the lower levels were used for apartments and offices through 1980's.
Today it is used for tours and paranormal investigations, however the owner is planning on transforming it into affordable housing and office space. They do have couple live in tenants in the building currently.
The hospital has a lot of paranormal activity. We did sessions on most levels and got voice responses on all of them as well as communication with several pieces of equipment.
The highlight of the investigation happened in the basement hallway, where Psychic Medium Jennifer Von Behren and Becki Marks from S.L.A.S.H. saw a full apparition of a man and later Becki saw another apparition on the other side of the same hallway, possibly the same man. Apparitions are extremely rare and 2 in the same night is incredibly rare.
This hallway has an entry to the 2 morgues and at the doorway marked B3, Jennifer saw a female and a male spirit. Going into the right morgue she saw another male spirit, who's name was Body and another one on the left morgue.
Batteries seem to drain in this area and both Jennifer and Becki had issues with their flash lights in the basement.
A tour is included with the investigation, however we didn't get a tour guide, so we had to try and figure out what some areas might have been used for. In one area of the basement someone told Jennifer, that the room was used for abortions and there were lot of dead there. In that same area Jennifer saw a tall curly haired male spirit.
Jennifer was touched by someone several times in the morgues, more than anywhere else ever she said.
In one of the left side morgue videos Jennifer saw a dark haired slender tall male spirit wearing a white tucked in t-shirt and dark pants. He felt like a doctor.
We also did an Estes session with Jennifer on the left morgue, where we talked with a male spirit, who had a dirty blonde shaggy hair and facial hair and who's name was Michael. He had been an optometrist, but had died young. He said it happened quick. He was a nice and personable guy with a weird sense of humor. He likes being down there. His wife died in the area and she is down the street. He also said that there is a grumpy old man in the basement as well.
In a room at the end of the hallway, where the ladies saw the apparition, there are several pieces of equipment and Jennifer felt that one of them had a male attachment.
The building has a lot of residual energy as is to be expected.
On the 1st floor by room 104, as Jennifer went to open it, someone from the inside pulled the door open . During a voice recorder session a man said his name was Adam and yes it was his room.
In the nurses area Jennifer saw a heavy set nurse by the name of Betsy and another spirit.
In one of the other rooms Jennifer saw a woman, who said she was murdered.
Before we even went to Butte, one of the male spirits from the hospital connected with Jennifer. He said his room is on the 2nd floor to the right. We went to the last room on the right on the 2nd floor, room 203B. The man was there and said his name is Patrick. He used the K2 EMF meters to communicate with as well as the voice recorder.
There is an old staircase, where Jennifer could hear a little boy humming. Jennifer feels that there is something odd about this area. Doors were locked from the outside and Jennifer kept getting touched.
Third floor is also active and to those of you, who will go to the hospital to investigate, this is where the 2 surgery rooms are.
Next to the surgery rooms there is room 16. There is an old lady there, who says it is her room, tho' she was not a patient. She would communicate using the dead bell and the voice recorder.
In this room Jennifer's cell phone starts taking pictures on its own and Eric Crabtrees, from Spookan Spirit Seekers, phone was also acting up.
We did a session in the left surgery room, the pink room as one of the nurses from the Miners Hotel called it.
We had a long conversation with a nurse, who's name was Marge.
Her hair was pinned up with a twist. She was a talker and loved using the flash light. She has been there for a long time. She doesn't like most investigators that go there due to them being rude. Her boss was arriving, a not so friendly doctor, who doesn't want her talking to people as this was a private area, so she said her goodbyes.
They don't like noise in either surgery room as it is a private area, so we did not do a spirit box session there.
In the maternity ward area Jennifer could hear screaming.
There is a lot of outside noise coming in thru' broken windows etc
that echo inside the hospital. It is not possible to tell what most of the noises are from , therefore they cannot be counted as anything paranormal for sure.
We did another session in the basement hallway and at one point there were 5 spirits; 2 children and 3 adults, talking with us.
The little boy was the most interested in using the flash light.
The entry to the tunnels is passed the left morgue area.
Jennifer kept hearing someone say "fire and burning" by the metal spiral staircase, that leads to the upper room with massive boilers.
In the boiler room Jennifer saw a male ghost, who had a full head of hair and a mustache, who's name was James. He used to work there, but was murdered by someone hitting him in the head with a metal object. He had a sarcastic humor,.
Some who died in this area, died by accident. They didn't know the people weren't dead and by the time they found out, it was too late to pull them out of the boiler .
There was also a younger male , who had gotten drunk and fallen down from the scaffolding. Most likely residual energy.
There are several ghosts in this area.
Some areas are not safe to be in at this hospital , especially if you go there in the dark, but this hospital is definitely worth investigating as it is quite haunted.
The money for the investigations goes towards repairing the hospital and the fee includes a t-shirt, however the shirts are not St. James Shirts . There are many cool items in the building, that may be purchased by asking the owner.
