West Rim Trail to Scout Lookout 3.6-3.8 miles round-trip, 1,100-1,190 feet gain. Hike to where Angels Landing splits- no permit needed. Spectacular views from Scout Lookout. Continue on West Rim Trail for beehive formations and fewer crowds. Still no permit.
Observation Point (East Mesa) 6-8 miles, 700+ feet higher than Angels Landing (6,507 vs 5,790 feet). 270-degree panorama, no chains, no exposure. Main route closed, East Mesa open. No permit.
Canyon Overlook 1 mile, 163 feet gain, 30-45 minutes. Stunning lower canyon views. Family-friendly. Drive to east side near Mt. Carmel Tunnel- no shuttle, no permit.
Watchman Trail 3.3 miles, 368 feet gain from Visitor Center. Best at sunrise/sunset. Overlooks Springdale and canyon. No permit.
Zero permits, incredible views.
