🔔 Important Notice for Our Retailers & Shoppers | New Louisiana Law Takes Effect August 1st
Governor Landry has signed SB 254 into law as Act 752 — and it's something every Springhill-area business and customer should know about.
📋 For Our Retailers:

Effective August 1, 2026, it is unlawful for retail businesses to charge customers a surcharge for paying with a debit card. This isn't new at the federal level — it's been prohibited under the Dodd-Frank Act since 2010 — but Louisiana now has its own enforcement mechanism. Violations can result in civil penalties of up to $500 per occurrence, following written notice and an opportunity to correct. If you're currently passing debit card processing fees to customers as a surcharge, now is the time to review your payment policies and update your point-of-sale practices before the deadline.
(Note: This law applies to debit card surcharges only. Credit card surcharges are not affected by this legislation.)

If you've ever noticed an extra fee on your receipt when you paid with your debit card, that charge was likely already illegal — and now Louisiana has the tools to do something about it. Starting August 1, you can report violations to the Louisiana Attorney General's Office via a toll-free hotline or online reporting portal. Keep your receipts. Know your rights.

Can I just talk to a human?

That's what my loved one said. Not to me because she didn't want to bother me. She sat on hold for 45 minutes. Then she hung up and said she was done with the internet entirely. "I'll get rabbit ears for the TV and that's it."

I laughed. Then I got in my car and drove over there. Turns out, she's not alone. Not even close.

When I started asking friends about their struggles, everyone had a version of the same story. People are struggling quietly, not asking for help because they don't want to feel like a burden. They'd tried the tutorials, the automated help lines, the steps that led nowhere, and they are just ready to give up.

That stayed with me. I'm Chillon and it's exactly why I started my service, CC Digital Life.

I can help be the human on the other end of the line. I listen first. We figure it out together and you leave feeling like YOU solved it, because you did!

No automated agents. No scripts. Our lives are now digital, but we didn't ask for this. We can't go back to the 80s or 90s when our lives weren't dominated by the internet, bots and watching for scams.

But, we can work together to make new and emerging tools work with the lives we want!
