🎉 Big News for Big Canoe Creek Nature Preserve! 🎉

We are excited to announce that we have received a generous grant from the Alabama Power Foundation! 🌿⚡️

This funding will support a major step forward for our preserve: creating a new Nature Center inside the historic Rock School in partnership with the Springville Preservation Society.

The BCC Preserve Partners are leasing 2,200 sq. ft. of space, which will include office space for our Preserve Manager and Educational Coordinator — and approximately 1,500 sq. ft. dedicated to a brand-new Nature Center! 🏛️🌱

This space will allow us to:
✨ Expand our conservation education programs
✨ Host fundraising and community events
✨ Provide room for administration and volunteer coordination
✨ Create a welcoming place for visitors to learn about Big Canoe Creek’s unique habitat — including the Trispot Darter, Canoe Creek Clubsell, and other species that call the preserve home.

We are deeply grateful to the Alabama Power Foundation for believing in our mission and helping us grow our impact in the community.

🐢 Exciting News on the Creek Loop Trail! 🐢

We have a very special guest visiting us — a box turtle has chosen a spot along the Creek Loop Trail to lay her eggs! 🥚✨

Please be mindful of the marked-off area and help us protect this little miracle of nature. We kindly ask all visitors to avoid disturbing the site in any way.

Let’s work together to give these tiny turtles the best chance at life. 💚 Let nature do its thing!
