This summer in Kentucky you can ride the dinner train aboard My Old Kentucky Dinner Train, leaving from the depot at 602 North 3rd Street in the historic town of Bardstown! This 2.5-hour, 35-mile roundtrip rolls through Bourbon country in restored 1940s dining cars pulled by R. J. Corman locomotives. Along the way, you’ll pass countryside views near Jim Beam, Jesse James’ safe house, and Jackson Hollow Trestle in Bernheim Forest. Before boarding, guests can browse the gift shop or enjoy the depot bar, which offers wine, beer, cocktails, and more than 35 bourbons. The popular dinner excursion includes a freshly prepared four-course meal with non-alcoholic drinks, coffee, and tea included.
For the April through September spring/summer menu, dinner begins with garlic and herb cheese spread, followed by the Golden Spike Salad, then entrée choices such as prime rib, cheese and pepper chicken, maple bacon cherry glazed pork chop, stuffed acorn squash, mahi mahi, or kids’ meals. Desserts include lemon berry mascarpone cake, bourbon pecan pie, chocolate lava cake, chocolate cream pie, and the classic Chocolate Choo-Choo upgrade. Many June and July weekends are sold out, but July 2, 3, 24, and 31 dinner trains still show availability, so book online before they’re gone!
