Dear Friends,
Cherapa has been emptied and cleaned. The contract has been signed. All that is left is the closing which is this Friday, June 28.
Just so you know, when we went back to clean the house a few months ago, we looked around and breathed a sigh of relief. We had not realized what a huge burden we had been carrying. With so much to be mowed, weeded, repaired and maintained, we both know that we have made the right decision. Do we miss Cherapa? Absolutely! We miss the frogs, the wide-open spaces and, most of all, our friends.
Now, however, things are much simpler. We practically live on a postage stamp that will soon be totally surrounded by flowers. I can walk to the 7-11 in 15 minutes or drive to the grocery stores in 5. We are near family, and at this stage of our life, and theirs, that is a very good thing. Tsagoi and I are better able to share in the birth of our grandson, as well as several deaths of family and friends. We bought a membership to the Dallas Arboretum, literally blocks from our house. It overlooks White Rock Lake, which I have learned, is a larger park than Central Park in NYC! With that membership comes the privilege of going in 2 hours before the park opens. From 7-9 am any day of the week, we can take our coffee and breakfast to sit, overlooking the lake – or any number of idyllic settings at the Arboretum in near solitude.
As far as the new owner is concerned, I think he is a good fit for Cherapa. He knows his plants, and plans on planting blackberry bushes and improving the Bamboo River Tunnel. I’ve been told he spent a lot of time at Mott’s in Spurger, and that he’s a really great guy. I know he has a married daughter, but not much more. He has put a lot of time and thought into what he wants for Cherapa, and I think he will care for and honor it properly.
This will probably be my final post, and I wanted to leave you with some pictures to browse through. I KNOW I missed some folks, but I culled through more than 1000 pictures and really hadn't realized I'd want everyone's picture until too late. It’ll trigger so many memories. Feel free to add your own!
