As we go into fall season October will see guests arriving. Randy and I have enjoyed the last few months occupying the house and hosted in at least 1 wine tasting event . Hopefully there will be more tastings to come next year.

Please keep my family and friends and the wildlife as well as all volunteers and paid first responders in your thoughts and prayers the next few days as they are challenged by fires on The Massanutten range of the Blue Ridge Mountain. It is traveling down into both the western side and eastern side of the mountain into neighboring counties. Which are all part of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Over 4k without power in my county of Page alone with many areas urged to evacuate with shelters in place at Luray High School.

We also have a historic house and barn there. As well as real estate in Luray.

This picture was taking early Wednesday evening from route 211 west looking toward the Massanutten Mountain.

Our major project at The Miller House this year is putting in a solid oak floor in the large back portion of the barn. After a new all over paint job a few years ago we are ready to start improvements inside.

The inside improvements also include adding large antique doors in the back to open up the space to take in the lovely views outback as well as adding an antique stained glass to replace the original door in the top.

This is something we have looked forward too for sometime. No plans for any special uses of the space at this time. But I certainly see the many possibilities.

Thanks to Bobby Turner and Wayne and Derrick Cubbage of Precision Trim for doing such a great job.

The Miller House has had a great summer and early fall. Guests continue to write 5 star reviews and truly enjoy their experience. We are seeing repeat guests and guests recommendations to friends as well. We are a big hit for Northern Virginia and DCer’s wanting to get away for a few days.

A large portion of our guests are visiting Page County because of the many weddings that take place here. And as always Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive are a big draw.

The house was prettied up by new exterior paint on the windows and trim recently and some of the original shutters that were stored in the barn were pressure washed and painted in a nice dark gray accent color.

In the next few weeks the barn roof and siding will be painted for the first time in over 40 years. Even tho we kinda like the fading paint ( as seen in the first photo taken by a friend this past weekend) we know that the painting is necessary so that this aging hand hewn masterpiece can survive another 100+ years.

We are pleased to be able to share the vision we had for this property with so many and look forward to continuing to make improvements.

The Miller House has freshend up with a great new look. The original shutters were power washed to remove many layers of paint and rehung on the front windows. Thanks Bobby Turner for doing such a good job!

We added some flower beds and colorful pots and a new red umbrella.

Last fall the house and the windows were painted fresh white with gray accented sections on the side porches.

The cows are getting lots of love and attention as one of the favorite things about the property along with rave reviews of our amazing kitchen. Most guests never leave to dine out they love it so and all the basics are provided.

Another favorite is the fire pit nights with star gazing ( the lack of street lights also make it a special viewing),

The friendly neighbors😉 and the amazing job Crystal Turner does making sure the house is s**c and span are well appreciated!

Rentals are going great and reviews are 5 star.

There is still some availability in August if you know anyone looking to get away for a girls night out. Private message me and I can make that work on a Sunday-Thursday. ( weekends are 2 night min).

Here’s to hoping we have a beautiful summer ahead and all my plants survive😂.

Had a last minute cancellation for the weekend.

Looking for a get away this Fathers Day weekend in the country and some fishing or tubing on the Shenandoah River just 5 minutes away. ( we have the intertubes). Horseback riding next door. Entrance to The Shenandoah National Park is just 30 minutes away where you will find lots of hiking and views of The Shenandoah Valley.
