Happy birthday to the goodest boy on the mountain, Alder! 🐾

Alder and his handler, Sally, are part of Steamboat’s Ski Patrol team. During the winter, Alder is trained to assist in avalanche rescues and helps keep our mountain community safe.

Join us in wishing Alder the happiest birthday!

We had a few moose visitors on the trails this week!

As we get ready for summer, please remember to give wildlife plenty of space and respect the mountain we share with them.

And while we’ll let it slide for these guys, trails are still closed until we open for summer on June 5. 😎

This Memorial Day, we remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, including members of the 10th Mountain Division whose legacy remains deeply connected to Steamboat.

Many of you are familiar with “Rudi’s Run” on the mountain, and this is story behind it: Rudolph “Rudi” Schnackenberg immigrated to the United States from Germany as a child. Rudi learned to ski in Colorado, competed in the U.S. Nationals, and went on to serve with the famed 10th Mountain Division during World War II. Like many members of the 10th Mountain Division, he later made Steamboat Springs his home.

Rudi helped shape the Steamboat ski community through his work as an instructor and supervisor at Steamboat Resort, as well as a coach and leader with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.

Today, one of Steamboat’s most beloved runs, Rudi’s Run, carries his name and his memory. Read more about Rudi's legacy: https://bit.ly/4a6edVS

Thank you to Rudi, all members of the 10th Mountain Division, and all veterans who have served.

We’re one month away from your favorite Steamboat summer traditions. We can’t wait for more days filled with bikes, hikes, and rodeo nights.

This summer, Steamboat Resort and Steamboat Pro Rodeo are teaming up to keep the adventure going all day long. Purchase a rodeo ticket and show it at the Steamboat ticket office for a BOGO scenic gondola ride ticket.
