At Maramec Spring Park in the Missouri Ozarks, you’ll find one of the clearest and most beautiful spring-fed spots in the state, where roughly 100 million gallons of cold water pour out each day. The spring is the fifth largest in Missouri, and the easy paved walkway around it gives visitors a close look at the deep blue-green water, rocky bluffs, and cave-like ledges tucked along the route. Trout are one of the biggest sights here, with rainbow trout stocked daily by the Missouri Department of Conservation, and you can often see them moving through the water before they make their way toward the Meramec River. The park spreads across about 1,860 acres of woods, fields, trails, bridges, waterfalls, picnic areas, and fishing spots. Visitors can also stop by the hatchery to feed the fish, explore small museums, grab food at the café, browse the general store, or relax near the water. The land also holds the remains of Maramec Iron Works, founded in 1826, giving the park a mix of Ozark scenery, trout fishing, and Missouri history all in one place.
