As a kid I LOVED picking up a post card at places we visited to send out & receiving them.

I loved exercising my long abandoned photoshop skills
(thank you Professor Waln 😉)
to size up my picture of our beloved bridge onto a postcard guests & Caplinger Mills enthusiasts can send to friends & family.

Salamander, Hellbender or Axolotl? 🤔

In the water you can really see those magnificent pink gills that Axolotls have are definitely present in these little ones.

We catch lots of salamanders here,
but while exploring one of the spring overflows & marshy areas the boys found a family of these.

I am stumped!

For most campers Friday marks the beginning of a much needed weekend.

This Friday hits different.

Good Friday; as we call it today;
Almost 2,000 years ago I am sure seemed like nothing but BAD.

A man who claimed to be the Son of God,
who befriended the poor, healed the sick and welcomed the ostracized, broke bread
with people who were labeled
as “not worthy” in common circles,
Was arrested with no fault found,
chained, beaten until the flesh ripped off His bones, mocked, spit on, and then made to carry His own cross through town & to the hill where He was later crucified,
All the while asserting until His last breath
That He was sent to fulfill the law & the prophets (Matthew 5:17).

Today you may be packing up the camper for a weekend trip or filling Easter eggs for the weekends festivities. Both of these things are wonderful and good.

But as you do these things,
On this Good Friday & Easter Weekend,
please don’t neglect to take time to read and contemplate the accounts of Jesus’ life, death, burial and resurrection found in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John & Acts.

We only have so long on this earth.
What better way to spend our time then to get down to the real, the worth-it, and the why of our existence.

I believe Jesus was as He said He was,
The Son of God sent down as a sacrifice for our sins as people.
You decide who He is to you.
It’s the most important decision
you will ever make.

“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.” - Luke 23:34
