Shared from a Wilmington area Brother.
Brethren,
I wrote this today thinking about Thanksgiving gatherings past and present. Whatever your circumstances, I hope this lifts your heart in some small way. Happy Thanksgiving to you, family, and friends. If you know someone lonely or hurting, invite them over and lift their heart.
In autumn's embrace, we gather around,
Our hearts are softer, kindness and warmth abound.
The table is set with love and grace,
We pause and reflect on this familial place.
A feast of plenty, hearty and grand,
Shared with kin and friends, we’re a united band.
From field and kitchens, the scent of the celebration prevails,
We listen to our elders spin their oft-told tales.
The laughter of children drifts through rooms and halls,
We close our eyes for a moment to take in it all.
The turkey roasts, a beautiful golden hue,
Mashed potatoes, gravy, beans, and cranberries too.
We bow our heads and offer grace to Above,
We humble our hearts and breathe in love.
We count our blessings, for time is swift,
We yearn for loved ones no longer in our midst.
For precious moments shared and memories made,
Let Thanksgiving be with us, each and every day.
