At Stonewall Motor Lodge, we’ve always known we were a little different - a retro roadside escape tucked into the heart of Texas Wine Country, surrounded by wineries, Hill Country views, and our quirky connection to President Lyndon B. Johnson.
But this week, The Spears Family reminded us we’re something else too:

They came searching for dark skies and the Milky Way. Their mission? Stay up until the middle of the night, spread out blankets under the stars, and create a memory their kids would never forget.
With our quiet location, wide-open Texas skies, and 3 acres of grassy back acreage with almost no light pollution, they found exactly what they were looking for.
They spent the night watching constellations rise, spotting shooting stars, and soaking in the kind of peaceful silence you only find deep in the Hill Country.
The next day they told us:
“We saw the Milky Way rise very distinctly and many constellations and half a dozen shooting stars.”
Honestly… we may need to add “Dark Sky Destination” to the list of things we love most about this place.
