The following vacancy is announced at the Beaver Pond Campground in Harriman State Park, part of the Palisades Region of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation.

TITLE AND SALARY GRADE: Park & Recreation Aide 4

HIRING RATE: $12.50 per hour, 40-hour work week
Start date: 4/22/2021 & 5/13/2021 (Multiple Positions)

NEGOTIATING UNIT: CSEA (Operational Services Unit)

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Seasonal (April – September)

WORK LOCATION: Beaver Pond Campground

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of Park Management the selected candidate will be involved in every aspect of campground permits, sales, and office operations. Duties will include, but are not limited to, addressing campground inquiries by phone and in-person, processing campground permits including sales and data entry, completing sales with the use of a cash register, completing campground audits, office and campground cleaning. Assists in other areas of park operations as needed. Weekend and holiday work will be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and able to perform sales related tasks while maintaining accurate financial records. Applicant must also be able to communicate orally with other staff and with park patrons. Previous experience performing facility sales and operations work (in a park type setting or related field) is highly preferred.

OPERATING NEEDS:
- The selected candidate must count money, process sales using a cash register, and complete daily revenue and audit forms in an accurate and timely manner.
- The selected candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Windows applications with the ability to learn the use of a camping point-of-sale program that will include data entry, program navigation, and sale processing.
- The selected candidate must be available to work weekends and holidays.

Performs routine grounds maintenance using a variety of power-driven mechanical equipment, such as lawn mowers and line trimmers. Ensures that all required safety equipment is used and that safety procedures are followed. Assists in other areas of park operations as needed. Weekend and holiday work will be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and available to work weekends and holidays. Applicants must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor. Previous experience performing facility and operations work (in a park type setting or related field) is highly preferred.

- Possess and maintain a valid New York State driver’s license a minimum of Class D at time of appointment.
- Have a variety of construction and equipment operation skills.
- Applicants must also be able to communicate orally with other staff and with park patrons.

Beaver Pond will be adhering to the New York State COVID-19 Campground Guidlines and we ask that our campers be aware of and follow these new guidelines as well. Each camper will be provided with this flyer upon check-in, while Reserve America will be providing this information in a confirmation email upon completion of a reservation.

All other Beaver Pond Campground Rules and Regulations still apply. This information is available online and provided upon check-in. Signing of the Camping Permit acknowledges compliance with these regulations.

The Beaver Pond Campground is beginning Phase 1 of reopening for the 2020 season!
We are currently honoring EXISTING reservations from June 5 through June 21. If you have an existing reservation you can arrive to the campground and check in anytime after 2:00pm on the date of arrival. Questions regarding your stay should be directed to our office at (845)947-2792.
