Ever wondered how Mayfield Point got its name? Friends of the Ouachita Trail shared the story behind this Ouachita Trail vista:

“The Ouachita Trail passes many beautiful vistas. Some have names, like this one, and you may find yourself pondering who they’re named for. 🤔 Mayfield Point, located on Section 6 near Highway 298, is named for Ron Mayfield, the former FoOT maintenance coordinator. He is still very active with the organization, sawing trees that have fallen across the trail. He was also responsible for getting the Womble Trail on the FarOut app. Thanks for all your hard work, Ron! And we hope all you hikers enjoy the view from this special place.”
