We’ll soon be wrapping up what has been a wonderful 9 years of hosting you beautiful people. It is time for The Barn at Bourne House to become part of the solution to Stowe’s long term housing crisis. While we think vacation rentals will always be part of Stowe’s lodging mix, it’s plain to see we are a community out of balance. It’s time to make some changes. Thank you to all of our guests over the years. We’ve loved sharing our special place with you.

Mushroom hunting, whether for culinary delight or photography, is a popular new past time in the area. We spied these beauties in the woods nearby. If you are interested in a foraging class, our friend Sam Rogers can get you started. His grasp and enthusiasm for fungi is impressive!

What a treat to have a visit with a favorite guest this morning. We chatted about favorite places to visit and things to do in Greece and I was reminded of a stay on the island of Paros that inspired me to paint our benches this beautiful deep blue. That was about 15 years ago. Do you think they’re worn in? Or worn out? I’m having a hard time deciding! Thank you for the gorgeous flowers Lindsay Gibson of Majestic Yoga Studio and safe travels. They are brightening this already gorgeous day!

Sometimes we come back to the Barn after guests leave to find the slightest clues about a stay. A beautiful family with a darling little one left this morning. We suspect he made himself comfortable in the pillows around the banquette. They are a mixture of Anthropology prototypes from our time in Philly, IKEA and Scott’s mom’s handiwork from years ago. We love adding one of a kind items to the Barn so that it feels unique to our visitors. Safe travels beautiful family. We hope to see you again soon.

Such a fun night at Stowe Cider for their open-mic on Thursday. All kinds of talent showing up there! If you’re in town and you perform you should go! Here’s Aidan Snyder covering Everlong. So bittersweet given the news today. Our hearts are heavy for the Foos and everyone who loves them as we do.
