Join us Saturday, September 12 from 4–6 PM for the first CabinFest, celebrating our Slayton Pasture Cabin! 🌲

This longtime trailside stop has served countless skiers, snowshoers, hikers and mountain bikers over the years, and we recently gave it some love with an improved foundation and new floors, doors and windows. We’ve also partnered with Vermont-based Verde Technologies to bring solar power to the Cabin.

To celebrate, the Glam Cowboys will bring live indie-pop/rock music, and author and environmentalist Bill McKibben will give a talk at 5:15 PM before our 5:30 PM Light Switch Flipping Ceremony. Plus, enjoy an open house, cider press, lawn games, a bonfire if it feels like fall and more. Guests are also welcome to bring a picnic or snacks to enjoy during the event.

🥾 Planning to join us? Give yourself plenty of time to get there. The most direct trail route is approximately 2.6 miles with 800 feet of climbing, and most people should plan on 1–1½ hours to hike up. Hike or bike on your own, or join the group hike leaving the Outdoor Center at 2:30 PM.

⛰️ CabinFest (September 12)
Hike or bike up to Slayton Pasture Cabin for live music, lawn games, a cabin open house and more, including a special appearance by author and environmentalist Bill McKibben. Complimentary with RSVP.

🍺 Oktoberfest (September 19)
Celebrate the 17th annual Oktoberfest at the von Trapp Brewing Bierhall with traditional Oktoberfest fare, von Trapp lagers, live music from the Inseldudler Band, Trachten contests, cask tapping and Steinholding competitions.

🏃Trapp Cabin Trail Races (September 20)
Hit the trails for a 5K, 10K or half marathon benefiting Green Mountain Adaptive Sports. Whether you’re chasing a PR or simply looking for a beautiful day on the trails, there’s a race for you.

There’s much more to the von Trapp family story than The Sound of Music. Take a history tour to learn about the family’s escape from Austria, their journey to Stowe and the life they built here in Vermont.

🐮Visit the animals
Our Scottish Highland cattle are a guest favorite, along with our flock of Katahdin sheep. Join one of our guided tours to learn more about the animals and their role on our farm.

🗺️Explore the trails
With 2,600 acres to explore, make some time to get out on the trails. Hike to the historic Chapel, visit the Sugarhouse or explore our network of single and double-track mountain biking trails.

🍻Have a lager at the Bierhall
Stop by the von Trapp Brewing Bierhall for an Austrian-style lager, brewed right here on property. Stay for a bite to eat and take in the mountain views from the patio.

🌻Wander through the gardens
Our flower and vegetable gardens are full of color throughout the growing season. Wander the paths, stop for photos or find a quiet spot to sit and relax for a while.

🍰Enjoy an Austrian treat
No stay is complete without a trip to the Kaffeehaus for traditional Austrian pastries like Apfelstrudel, Sachertorte and Linzertorte, plus plenty of other fresh-baked treats to take home.

Join us in the gardens on September 5 for our Farm to Table Dinner, an evening celebrating the season’s harvest and good company gathered around one long communal table. 🍽️

The evening begins with cocktails and time to stroll through the gardens while enjoying live jazz from the Paul Asbell Trio before sitting down for a multi-course meal prepared by our culinary team. This year’s menu brings together ingredients from our gardens and farm alongside products from local Vermont producers, with Hoepler and Hoepler's Wine rooms wines and von Trapp Brewing beer paired throughout the evening.

Tickets are $275 per person and include all food and beverage, tax, and service charge. Non-alcoholic options are also available.

Join us for a special edition of the weekly von Trapp Trail Series 5K this Thursday, August 20, featuring a post-race Q&A and poster signing with two-time Olympic silver medalist ben.0gden! 🥈🥈

🏃 5K starts at 5:30 PM
🎤 Q&A + poster signing with Ben at 6:15 PM in the yurt by the Outdoor Center

Runners can register online or arrive at least 15 minutes before the race. You do not need to run the 5K to join us for the Q&A and poster signing.

Join us on Saturday, September 5 for our Farm to Table Dinner, a special evening of great food and good company.

Begin with cocktails while strolling the gardens before settling in for a multi-course meal prepared by our culinary team, featuring ingredients harvested from our gardens and farm alongside products from local Vermont producers.
