1 year ago today, the A in AKDESIGNS passed away.
It has taken me this whole past year to truly believe that without the A there is no AK DESIGNS. I instinctively start thinking about new designs to talk with you about. But you're not here with me and Sweet Pea and Peanut. No big bags of M&M's when I go grocery shopping. No wandering out to our shop to see our latest creation in progress.
Your passing has left a void in my heart that I doubt will ever be filled.
Your dry sense of humor, your unfailing patience, your incredible mastery of TIG welding and wonderful ability to create all the designs
for our wonderful and loyal customers.
You were and still are the most talented man I have ever known.
You are in heaven now. But will always be alive in my heart.
Sweet Pea and Miss Peanut and I are coming to grips with your not being here with us. Life goes on.
In a few days I am going to take down our AK DESIGNS page. It's time.

As some of you already know, Art passed away on the 4th of July.
We were blessed in our 27 years of AK DESIGNS with the most wonderful customers who so appreciated a quality handcrafted and hand painted product that will last to be passed down from generation to generation.
Thank you each and every one for believing in us and becoming not only wonderful customers but also treasured friends.
The shop is empty now, not only of Arts equipment and talent, but of our 38 years together. The last 27 working side by, participating in unique Art and Craft Shows from Maine to Arizona. Meeting new faces, traveling across this beautiful land called America. Appreciating every moment together.
It is the end of an era. The kitties and I are leaving this week. Driving back to Arizona. Thank you Brian Greer for coming all the way from Taos to make sure we get there safely.
A special thank to Wendy and Espo of Unity Pottery for taking the time to drive all the way to Strong to keep me motivated and together to ”Get It Done”. To Christopher and Anne Smith, Tom and Pam Mauzaka, Joan Thompson and Dana Toothaker for lending a helping hand when needed.
To Gunner Josselyn for appreciating Art’s shop and will use it when he opens his second machinist shop.
I am so going to miss all of you so very much.
