World Mangrove Day! 🍃
There are a lot of mangrove’s along Stuart’s intercostal waterways. They make a great habitat for the local wildlife and are protected area kayaking and boating.
Today is World Mangrove Day! These blue forests are one of the planet’s most powerful natural assets. Did you know there are more than 60 different species of mangrove trees? Growing in saltwater, their distinctive roots sprawl above and below water in thick, muddy soils, storing 3-4 times more carbon than tropical forests. Mangroves also provide habitat for over 340 threatened species and help protect over 15 million people from extreme weather and coastal flooding. Let’s give it up for the mangroves!
