WOW, WOW, WOW... have you seen everything happening in Sumpter for 4th of July weekend?!

This little town is going all out, and we couldn't be more excited to be part of it.

Here's just a taste of what's happening:

• 4th of July Parade at 2:00 PM
• Local flea market in town
• 3rd Annual Renaissance Fair at Bo’s
• Live music at the Stage Stop on Friday and Saturday (21+)
• FREE live music from Huckleberry Jam on Friday and Saturday at 3:00 PM (open to everyone!)
• Camp Cookout at the campground
• Movie Night under the stars
• No fireworks (which means a quieter, less stressful holiday for pets and those looking to relax)
• Small-town charm, mountain views, and a weekend full of fun

We love seeing this little town come alive during holiday weekends, and this year is shaping up to be one of the best yet. If you're spending the holiday with us, get ready for a fun-filled weekend and some great memories.

✨ Father's Day Weekend in Sumpter ✨

It's a great weekend to be in Sumpter! The train will be running all weekend, and the station will be buzzing with food vendors, music, and Father's Day festivities as the community celebrates dads and another wonderful season on the railroad.

Here at the park, we're excited to kick off the first of many Outdoor Movie Nights of the camping season! Tonight, campers will gather under the stars for a movie, snacks, and a little campground magic.

One of our favorite things about camping is how simple moments become the memories you talk about long after the trip is over. A train ride, good food, live music, a campfire, and a movie under the stars—it doesn't get much better than that.

A huge thank you to the volunteers of the Sumpter Volunteer Fire Department and Powder River Rural Fire Department for their quick response tonight.

A fire started near the train tracks, and thanks to their fast action, it was quickly brought under control. We are incredibly grateful for the men and women who volunteer their time to protect our community.

Sumpter is a special place because of people like you. Thank you for all that you do!

Our friends at Gold Valley Log Cabin are hosting a Community Potluck BBQ & Summer Solstice Celebration this Sunday, June 21st, featuring live music by Huckleberry Jam!

The event starts at 1:00 PM and is located just across from the Sumpter Nugget at Gold Valley Log Cabin.

🚨 LAST-MINUTE OPENING! 🚨

We had a cancellation today, which means TWO prime pull-through sites just became available for this week's festivities!

Sites #7 and #8 are large, easy-access pull-throughs located right next to each other and are now available Wednesday through Sunday.

With train events, live music, and a fun-filled weekend ahead, this is a great opportunity to grab a spot if you thought everything was already booked.

History is everywhere in Sumpter!

Thanks to Explore Oregon for highlighting the North Pole-Columbia Mine Loop, where you can still walk through the remnants of Oregon's gold rush era and experience a piece of the past firsthand.

After your adventure, be sure to spend some time exploring Sumpter's local businesses, grabbing a bite to eat, visiting the museums, riding the train and supporting the great campgrounds that help make this little gold mining town such a special destination.

It's just one more reason we love calling Sumpter home!

Gold made Sumpter, Oregon a boomtown after 1862, but the miners who worked the North Pole-Columbia Lode are long gone now, and the only sounds on this 14-mile loop are your boots scraping over tailings piles, the wind through the Elkhorn pines, and the creak of those original 1897 timber supports still holding underground, sagging but not yet surrendered.

There's something special about June in Sumpter!

The mountains are still green, the wildflowers are showing off, the trails are in fantastic shape, and the evenings are perfect for relaxing around the campfire. It's one of those times of year when everything just seems to come together.

Planning to attend the Sumpter Valley Railroad's 50th Anniversary Celebration next weekend? We're down to just ONE campsite remaining! With festivities celebrating 50 years of railroad history, it's shaping up to be an incredible event.

We also had something pretty rare happen...
Sites 14 and 15—two of our large 50-amp full-hookup sites—have become available June 22 through July 1. These are some of the most popular sites in the park and are rarely available during the summer season.

Whether you're looking for a quick weekend getaway, some trail riding, a little gold rush history, or simply a place to unwind under the pines, we'd love to host you.

The Sumpter Valley Railroad is celebrating its 50th Anniversary, and this is shaping up to be one of the biggest events of the summer!

From June 12–21, history will come alive with steam train excursions, live music, vendors, special events, and plenty of opportunities to experience the rich railroad and gold mining heritage that helped build our region.

Whether you're a train enthusiast, history buff, music lover, or just looking for a fun family getaway, this celebration has something for everyone. Imagine spending the day riding behind a historic steam locomotive, exploring the area’s fascinating past, enjoying live music, browsing vendors, and then returning to your campsite under the beautiful Eastern Oregon sky.

The live music lineup at McEwen Depot looks fantastic, and we're excited to see so many people coming together to celebrate 50 years of railroad preservation and community spirit.

We’re firing up the grill and hosting a Memorial Day Cookout here for our guests and friends at Sumpter RV Park!!

Spend the weekend riding ATV trails, exploring old gold mining history, relaxing around the campfire, checking out the flea market happening in town, and enjoying live music and weekend fun around Sumpter!
