The season of color has begun. The first color of fall at Hill Farm is in the meadow, not the trees. Goldenrod comes into full bloom, a wide sweep of yellow that catches the afternoon light.

Goldenrod blooms late, when much of the season’s other flowers are finished, so it becomes a last big meal for native bees and butterflies before the cold arrives.
