An INCREDIBLE shark tooth hunting day! 🦈

People tell us all the time “I’ve been to the beach so many times and I’ve NEVER found a shark tooth”!

I bet they’ve stepped on a billion of them!

They’re hard to spot unless you know what you’re looking for! So here are some shark tooth hunting tips!

1. When you’re walking in the sand, look along the water’s edge of the ocean - our favorite time to go out is an hour after high tide! Then the water’s edge is constantly moving back and more and more treasures become visible for the next few hours!

2. Shark teeth are almost always dark black. They won’t break if you try to snap them in half.

3. Shark teeth are usually shiny - they glisten in the water! Most of the ones you’ll find will be small so look closely and as low to the ground as your back can tolerate 🤣

4. Look for black triangles or things that look like a black 🐳 tail. Message us with pics if you’re not sure the thing you found is a shark tooth - we can help you figure out if you got a real one or a shell cleverly disguised as a shark tooth.

We carry an empty water bottle with us on our beach walks. Anything that looks like it’s probably a tooth goes in the bottle and when we get back to Treat Yo Self, we go through them and toss anything that’s not affirmatively a tooth - and keep the rest! We have a special box FULL of thousands of shark teeth from our magical trips to Surf City!

Once you find a few - you’ll officially be a shark tooth hunting addict! It’s the most fun treasure hunt - these things are between 10,000 and 75 million years old! Cool stuff!

And there’s nothing better at the beach than a seafood boil! 🤤🦀

is one of your “must do” items while you’re here! They provide EVERYTHING down to the steamer pot! Pick your seasoning, your meat, your seafood - and they’ll have everything loaded into the steam pot waiting for you when you arrive! The helpful staff gives you simple instructions to steam your pot back at the beach house and in under an hour, you’ll have a super delicious, fun meal that’s enough to feed the whole gang!

Thanks for the amazing meal, Topsail Steamer! This is going to be something we do as a tradition every time we come down from now on! 🌅
