KK Update:
To address the Governor’s briefing yesterday, we will remain closed for reservations through May 28th or TBD. Businesses to open are restaurants, bars, and retail at limited capacity (to local residents within our region.) This does not include overnight lodging or leisurely travel at this time. This will occur when Michigan as a whole enters stage 5. Our region is in stage 4 while a majority of Michigan is still in phase 3. While we would love nothing more than to re-open our doors to our wonderful guests; we are trying to think of the safety of ourselves, our family, our guests, and our community during these interesting times and we will do so when appropriate. We thank you for understanding, and we hope to host you in our home sooner than later.
Stay safe and healthy.

Jared and Jillian

Coming along nicely. It’s been fun watching the progress, walking down the middle of M-22, and watching numerous people disregard the road closed signs and drive it anyways.

Meanwhile, in Suttons Bay. Work has begun on our streetscape. Should be great when it’s all finished. Safer for pedestrians and drivers alike, new sidewalks, and a new look when it’s done.

The next time you take a walk to practice social distancing. Take a bag, some gloves and practice a little environmental cleanup as well. Our short walk today showed me I needed a bigger bag. Mostly cigarette butts and plastics. Also, this led me to the thought that no other creature on this planet contributes to this but us.

Future ferry could connect Suttons Bay and Elk Rapids

With an open mind, this could be a great thing to connect the Grand Traverse Bay. Solar powered would be a cherry on top. Kudos to Kimberly Pontius for all of his work on this idea.

SB advance to 8-player football state finals
“I’m still in disbelief.”
Those words from Suttons Bay Football Coach Garrick opie sum up the feelings of the team as the Norsemen advance to the 8-player Division 1 state championship on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Superior Dome in Marquette,
The Norsemen beat Kingston 45-14 Saturday in the semifinal game Suttons Bay hosted Saturday. They will face Colon.
“We worked so hard in the summer, all the way through now,” Opie said.
One of the big differences between Suttons Bay and Kingston were turnovers. The Cardinals had 3, the Norsemen none. The Norsemen racked up 451 all-purpose yards to Kingston’s 384 yards. The difference in yardage was in kick returns. Norseman Lucas Mikesell scored Suttons Bay’s first touchdown of the game on a 76-yard kick-off return in the second quarter. Mikesell had 204 yards of offense in total
Leading rusher for the Norsemen was Camryn Knaub who had 68 yards on 6 carries.
Michael Loucks led the Norse defense, He had 22 tackles, one for loss, and returned an interception 49 yards.
See complete coverage of this game in this week’s Leelanau Enterprise.

Well... I throw in the towel. 33" measured off S. Benzonia Trail near Empire in Leelanau County. Unbelievable amounts of snow under a band of stationary lake effect snow. Interestingly enough, just 20 miles away to the east 0" has fallen as of this writing. Courtesy: Cathy Boissoneau
