The fall Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands runs Thursday, Oct 15 through Sunday, Oct 18, 10 AM to 5 PM daily at Harrah's Cherokee Center in downtown Asheville. More than 100 juried members of the Southern Highland Craft Guild bring pottery, woodwork, fiber, jewelry, and more, with live demonstrations all weekend.

Admission is $12 for adults, kids under 12 are free, and tickets are sold at the door. It's the perfect excuse to start your holiday shopping with something handmade.

The Black Mountain Home Fall Festival is Saturday, Oct 10, from 10 AM to 3 PM at 80 Lake Eden Rd in Black Mountain. It's a true small-town fall day: free festival games, bounce houses, and face painting for the kids, plus a horse show, live entertainment, a car show, hayrides, and a silent auction.
