Introducing Vintage Finds in the Pines, a small passion project born out of a really heavy loss.

Anyone who has stayed at the cottages knows how much I love old things. The walls and rooms feature vintage pieces that carry memories and stories from decade’s past. There is so much joy and beauty in saving items with history, keeping them out of landfills, and giving them a [new] home.

When my neighbor Jim passed away, he left behind an incredible lifetime collection. Jim was a 2nd generation true local collector with an amazing eye for Pine Barrens history, vintage hardware, quirky trinkets, and unique artifacts. He would be so pleased to know I am finishing what he couldn’t and his collection will have renewed life with antique and vintage lovers alike.

Introducing Vintage Finds in the Pines, a small passion project born out of a really heavy loss.

Mullica River Cottages are (2) vacation cottages, situated directly on the Mullica River in Sweetwater, NJ. Stays include kayaks, SUPs, a canoe, fire pit, plus the best nature in South Jersey.

Vacancy 8/19-8/24. 2 night minimum.
Kingfisher Cottage: 2BR
Bluebird Cottage: 1BR + sofa pullout.
Cottages can be booked separately or together.

This one’s for you, Jim.

Jim was my neighbor and friend. We talked just about every day when I would pass by his house on my walks with Charlie. He always told me Charlie was the best looking dog he ever saw. Jim would tell me stories about local wildlife and what Sweetwater was like “back then”. Jim had a soft spot for animals, especially cats, and over the years trapped, spayed, and released dozens of kitties.
Behind his familiar presence, daily waves, and conversations, Jim carried a heavy burden. In April, he died by su***de. His passing is a heartbreaking reminder of the silent battles so many face, particularly senior adults and veterans navigating the heavy weight of isolation, trauma, TECHNOLOGY, and the transition of years. Jim was inundated with paperwork, logins, and portals. The quiet struggles of our seniors and former service members too often go unseen in tight-knit communities like ours. By speaking openly about Jim’s death, I want his story to matter, to break the silence, to encourage others to check in on the neighbors and veterans living down the road, and to remind anyone struggling that they do not have to carry their pain alone. 🤍

Rest easy Jim. Your kitties, treasures, and land will be tended to with love and compassion. 🫶🏼

If you were stuck inside watching the rain all through Memorial Day weekend, this is your do-over.
The weather forecast for Sweetwater this weekend is flawless. The kind of weather that’s perfect for adventuring or paddling during the day and relaxing by a riverside fire in the evening. We are mid-70s and sunny all three days. By some absolute miracle, we have a last-minute opening (BOTH COTTAGES 😎), leaving a single open gap in our otherwise fully booked summer calendar. This Friday through Sunday is the only weekend available for either cottage until August.
Bring your favorite four-legged copilot; because we are completely dog-friendly and your dog deserves a vacation too. Even better.. you don’t have to haul any gear. We provide the kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards so you can get right out on the water.

It’s true what they say.

Right now, the gardens at Mullica River Cottages are getting plenty of sky juice (aka rain!) and preparing for a May full of blooms. Just imagine trading the rain for this spot!

Here, a spectacular, massive waterfall of Clematis winds itself right around our 20x20 platform dock, situated directly on the Mullica River. This is where you’ll want to be / the perfect spot to savor your morning coffee, find your center with a quiet Pilates stretch, or drift off for an afternoon nap. All while surrounded by this serene scent and view. Our May (and beyond) cottage booking calendars are open and available for reservations.

WANTED: explorers, travel hunters, and storytellers.

We’re looking for a few local(ish) creators to hang at the Mullica River Cottages this spring. We want to show people what makes this unique corner of the woods so special, and we’d love to see it through your lens.

We have the basecamp covered / you just bring the perspective. We’re looking for someone to capture the best of the Pines: the morning river fog, the cedar-lined trails, drifting on the river, the wildlife… Whether you’re here for a day of exploring or just a quiet morning on the water, we want to see your version of a pine barrens getaway with as your home base!

The Trade
A mid-week stay on us. In exchange / you capture a “Top 5” or “Day in the Life” Reel TikTok, or video.

Who should reach out

A true bird’s eye view of your summer plans.

They say the early bird catches the worm, but at Mullica River Cottages, the “early bird” catches the best summer dates on the calendar!

From this height, you can see exactly how our little slice of paradise is laid out - from the cozy fire pit area to the lush gardens and paths. It’s the perfect spot to launch a kayak or just float into the quiet of the river for the afternoon.

We have a “perch” with your name on it, but our summer weekends are already starting to fill up. Whether you’re looking to explore the Mullica or just need a quiet place to “nest” for a few days, come see why this stretch of the river is so special.
