A little history & a museum you must visit!
As we head into Fall, just a reminder that the Museum has re-opened on Sundays now through October. Hours are 1-5 pm and admission is by donation. If you've never walked through the doors of Yesterday House Museum, please stop by. You will be surprised at the number of displays and interesting information about our little town that is housed in this unique building.
The Time Capsule Presentations will soon be available in hard copy. These will be offered individually or as a package of three. If you or someone you know would like a copy, please respond so we can get an accurate count of the number of copies to order. Don't have a price just yet, but will post soon.
Sylvan Grove's 150th anniversary is in 2026. Planners are organizing a celebration during Memorial Day weekend in conjunction with the Alumni gathering, so mark your calendars. A parade and bank robbery re-enactment are some ideas for entertainment. What would you like to see happen at the celebration? Let us know!
If you have your family history in print, please consider donating a copy to the Sylvan Historical Society. We have started a collection of these and hope to see it grow. The most recent history received was from the Osterfund family, along with a steamer trunk that made its way to Sylvan Grove from Germany. William & Kate Osterfund ran the Sylvan Meat Market.
The home pictured here (circa 1918) was built by Rein Wohler, drug store operator and real estate man in early Sylvan Grove. The home is located at 3rd & Pennsylvania. Previous owners included Ed & Alvina Brichacek, Dale & Judy Walter, Don & Joni Blase, Alan & Kay Ostermann.
