Sadie Beth Sell’s parents, Nancy and Scott, along with many other family members, honored her with a pre-graduation dinner party. She is an Honor Graduate with Distinction, and in April was named Central Region Star Farmer at the Georgia FFA State Convention. This girl’s got big plans. In her own words: “Hurricane Helene inspired me to pursue an undergraduate degree in Agriculture and a master’s degree in disaster management, a degree in Animal Science and a master’s in public health.” We’re rooting for you Sadie Beth!

Sometimes we have to show the notes that remind us what’s so rewarding about sharing my great-grandparents’ home with guests. They also remind me how lucky I am that Bob loves to prepare breakfast.

We’re trying to catch up on our posts, and I couldn’t let more time pass without sharing the wedding reception of Nicole Lantino and David Lee. They enjoyed a family gathering, and I must admit I was most impressed by young Hazel, who proclaimed, “This house is awesome! I’m going to live here and be in charge of cleaning the plates and glasses!” Let us know your ETA, Hazel.

We were honored to have T. Brooks Lyles among our guests on Feb. 28, when members of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) and Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) gathered in Screven County. They met at the site of the Battle of Brier Creek to mark the 250th anniversary of our country’s founding. Brooks gave Bob and me a couple of these beautiful celebratory pins. Thanks for choosing us for your accommodation, and we hope to see you next year!

Ready to host your own tea party?
Since we shared the story of Evelyn’s wish for a “real” tea party, we’ve gotten inquiries about hosting them on other December dates, or other holidays. Birthdays are a great time for them, too! We would love to help you make someone’s wish come true!

A little girl’s wish to have a “real” tea party at Christmas started a new family tradition at Kinchley Place. In 2021, Evelyn (aka Evie) asked her mom if she could have a tea party, when they came to Sylvania for Christmas. We put up decorations, get out some “good” china, and prepare traditional tea party fare, plus a few extras, like hot chocolate and PB&J sandwiches. Playing Christmas Bingo has been a hit with everyone, and we recently added Reindeer Ring Toss. We hosted our 5th tea party last month, and I like to think that Evelyn’s namesake would love this new tradition. We hope you enjoy these pictures from our first five years!

Anyone for Reindeer Ring Toss? Karaoke? A gift exchange featuring screwdrivers, jumper cables, and a crowbar? That was the game plan Karen Finch (wearing the reindeer deer antlers) organized for her co-workers at BitCloud Services. We believe a great time was had by all, even the one who took home the jumper cables, but doesn’t own a car! Come back anytime, guys!

A rare photo of Bob Owers actually grinning! I know it’s hard to tell, but believe me, there’s a grin under that mustache. We had taken a brief break from being innkeepers to enjoy a long weekend in the mountains.
