Hi Everyone,
It’s been a looong time since I’ve sent a post. Frank and I have had a really rough time getting over letting our retreat go. We’ve spent the summer with friends and family, both here and in MD. It’s been nice to have the freedom to go away when we want.
Kimberly and I traveled to Orangeburg, SC for a baby shower for Cheryl’s daughter-in-law, Chi.
This summer, we went to Myrtle Beach for the Monster Truck Show. We had a great time. We are hoping that we can take the grandkids this year. So much fun!
Amanda and Jason had a big summer party, so we were able to go to MD for it. The highlight of the party was the pics I was able to get.
I spent a lot time watching Kimberly’s kids. We spent time swimming. They are like little fish. Frank took them for a ride in his skid loader. AJ loved DD’s “tractor.”
Amanda and her crew came for a few days at the beach, MiMi and the little kids got to spend time with the oldest and biggest cousin, Christian. DD took us out on his boat. It was a great day.
AJ and I got to spend a day together, so we visited the Alligator Adventure. So many alligators plus flamingos and other animals.
We spent a lot of time in MD crabbing, and had lots of tasty steamed crabs. Frank caught and albino crab, which he mounted. We found out that there are only around 6 albino crabs caught a year. This was Frank’s first in 50 years of crabbing.
Back we went to Orangeburg to see Cheryl’s new baby granddaughter for the first time. I think she looks like Cheryl. In any case, she is super cute. Frank had been on a mission to try the new Popeyes chicken sandwich. After several tries, he finally had one in Orangeburg.
This was the first Halloween that we were able to spend it with the MD kids. Mom, Jennifer is very creative with their costumes. That same weekend, Jennifer had a baby shower for Amanda. Her baby will be our 10th grandchild.
We traveled to Key West for the cigarette boat races. It was my first time there. The first 2 days, he walked me all over God’s good earth. U legs were killing me, so I suggested we rent bikes. My balance isn’t the greatest these days, but I was going to give it a try. The beach bike was much heavier than my bike at home, but I managed to stay up all day until we got back to the hotel. Frank was locking his bike up when I stopped it the bike went down before I could get my foot down, so I we t down with it. I scraped my knee. By the time I got to the room, look was running down my leg. The next day, the same thing happens, Ut I ended up in the bushes with a scratched up leg. The last day, Frank asked me not to crash and burn. The races were exciting too. It’s amazing how fast the boats go and how quickly they come out of the water and flip. There were divers in helicopters waiting to jump in the water when a goat flipped to save the drivers.
Since Amanda couldn’t come to NC, we all traveled to MD for Thanksgiving. It was wonderful to have everyone together.
After the holidays, Frank has decided that we should walk on the beach everyday. I try to go with him as much as I can, but it’s hard to get up at 6 to be at the beach for sunrise.
Now, we are awaiting the birth of our latest grandchild. Amanda’s due date was January 15, it still no baby. They are trying to let her go natural because she’s planning on having a hypno-birth in a bath tub. Don’t ask me what it’s all about. I just go with the flow.
Don’t get me wrong. I have also been quilting in between everything else. Now that the retreat is gone, we had to find somewhere else to quilt. On the first Tuesday of the month, we go to the senior center in supply. It’s right off NC211. On the third Tuesday, we still go to Tabor City to the Lake Lodge right on Lake Tabor. It is so beautiful there. If anyone would like to join us, please let me know, and I’ll send directions.
