This month's featured artwork stops you in your tracks for a reason.
Jessica Townsend's Homage to the Implant (blown glass, 2007) is exactly the kind of work Hotel Murano was made to showcase. Townsend uses glass as an instigator, crafting personal commentaries on the ideals of perfection we chase, often without realizing it. The result is a gleaming, grid-like lineup of forms that nod to consumerism and society's complicated relationship with the human body.
Femininity, philosophy, and media all surface in her work, layered beneath something that first reads as simply stunning to look at. That tension is the point.
Come see it in person. Art like this deserves more than a screen. https://heyor.ca/eN17fP
