Chartering the big plane back to the big city.
The flight from Caribou Lodge to Anchorage in one of these DHC Beavers is about 60 minutes in some pretty beautiful country. If you'd rather ride in a floatplane than take the train or rental car to Talkeetna THIS is the way to go!

After a trip into Anchorage to get supplies and pick up our daughters after their week at camp we weren't able to fly home due to bad weather so we walked around Talkeetna, got dinner at Mountain High Pizza Pie and stayed overnight in town. Today the weather improved and we got 1,000 lb of stuff flown home.

While on vacation are you a night owl or do you like to turn in early?
If you were here a couple of nights ago and up at 10:30 PM you would have seen this view along with a mama moose and her calf.
All the guests were in their cabins so we didn't bother waking anyone since the moose didn't stick around long.

Sometimes we search high and low for the wildlife and other times they walk right into the front yard.
This young moose decided he didn't want to walk past a bunch of tourists and 2 dogs staring at him so he hopped in the lake and continued on his way.

We are probably the worst drone operators ever! Going through some 2025 footage and I found this clip that had a lot of potential but also makes you seasick at the same time!
A few highlights were: I pushed record, I was shooting in 4K, and I didn't lose the drone in the lake this time... but the jerky movements are a bit cringe. What do you think? I think it's a good thing I don't get paid to fly that thing. We are way better at wilderness lodge accommodations and guided outdoor adventures so check us out at Cariboulodgealaska.com 😃

DO YOU WANT TO HEAR A NOT-SO-FUNNY STORY that has a decent ending?
A few months ago one of our snowmobiles throttle cable stuck and the only thing that brought Joe and the machine to a stop was the wall of our cabin.
The silver lining is that the cedar siding was 25+ years old and needed to be replaced anyway. So this summer our guests will notice that cabin 1 looks nicer than the other 2 cabins. Now we know what project we have in store for 2027...
