Hiking Bear Point with my favorite group of the year. 😊 We always do an end-of-season hike with the kids to reset, process the season behind us, and remind ourselves that we get to live out here. I always pack dad's revolver on this hike every year so a part of him is with his grandkids on this special hike. Tomorrow would have been his birthday. Happy earthly # 67, pops.

The tundra has gone extremely drab and the berries are over ripe. Not much to show off this time of year, but I feel bad for all the Alaska visitors who will never see Denali this crisp and clear.
The atmosphere has dried out and the clarity in which we can see the high one is absolutely awe inspiring.
Would you rather see Denali on a clear day or have the texture and contrast with clouds around it?

We waited until the snow melted off the trails and got to experience a beautiful day.
So many birds preparing to fly south, fall colors and some hearty tundra flowers holding on through all of August. 👍

Scott arrived in one of Rust's Flying Service classic red floatplanes to transfer our guests from here at Caribou Lodge over to Wilderness Place Lodge to do some salmon fishing for the next few days. After that, they'll fly back to Anchorage.
