Kaluna Farm Retreat

Kaluna Farm Retreat Kaluna Farm is a 160-acre family homestead in the North Georgia mountains offering farm stays, retreats, workshops, and gatherings.

Guests can explore gardens, visit the spring, meet farm animals, and experience life on a working farm. We strive to bring ourselves and our guests closer to what connects us. We're passionate about getting back to the basics, crafting authentic connections and cultivating a love for our land. At Kaluna, we're conscious of every product we use, conservation of resources and giving back to the land

that graciously cares for us. We provide a space where anyone can learn how to be more mindful of our footprint while reconnecting to our most primal instinct, grounding ourselves within nature.

Today is an arugula harvest day. 🌱

One of the pleasures of this time of year is watching greens make their way back into the harvest after the long stretch of summer.

This morning, we’re cutting our first succession of fall arugula...harvesting above the new growth with the hope that these plants will give us another flush in the weeks ahead.

Peppery, tender and very much worth the wait.

Fresh arugula will be making its way into the Farm Store this week. Open Saturday, 10am-5pm.

We lost Wendell Berry yesterday.

A poet. A farmer. A steward. A man who knew how to pay attention.

He reminded us that there is meaning in the ordinary work of tending a place—in soil beneath our hands, food shared at a table, neighbors known by name, and the long, patient work of caring for what will outlive us.

For those of us who have built our lives around land and seasons, his words often felt less like instruction and more like recognition. He gave language to something we already knew in our bones: that belonging to a place means loving it, caring for it, and accepting responsibility for what we leave behind.

His words have traveled with us through many seasons here at Kaluna.

May we honor him by continuing to notice. To tend. To belong. To leave something worth inheriting.

Rest well, Wendell.

Your words will continue to grow here.

Tucked into the woods and surrounded by the sounds of nature—the birds, the creek and the rustling canopy—the Treehouse has always been one of our favorite little places to escape at Kaluna.

Over the years, we’ve continued to make small changes to make a stay here even more comfortable—most recently adding a bathroom and a few other thoughtful touches, while keeping everything we love about this quiet perch in the trees.

It’s a place for slow mornings, evenings on the porch, outdoor showers beneath the canopy and falling asleep surrounded by the trees.

If a little time away has been calling, the Treehouse is ready for you. 🌿

A little community-powered bluegrass levity to start the week. 🪕✨

We're still smiling about our very first Kaluna Pick-nic—a day of music, good food, new connections and the kind of magic that happens when people simply gather together.

From the afternoon picking to music carrying on into the evening, it was such a joy to watch the farm fill with players and listeners.

A huge thank you to all of the pickers who brought their instruments and shared their music, and to everyone who came out to listen, linger and be part of the day. You made our first Pick-nic something truly special.

We’re already looking forward to gathering everyone together again.

Stay tuned for the next Pick-nic at Kaluna. 🌿🎶

Sundays are for slower mornings and biscuits.

A little butter, blackberry jam, and a recipe that carries a story with it. Ben’s blackberry jam comes from his grandmother—a taste of summer, family, and the kind of food memories worth holding onto.

Some recipes feed us in more ways than one.

One last long weekend of summer.

Before the season begins to shift, there’s still time for one more slow weekend away—mornings on the porch, walks through the woods, time by the creek, good food, and a little room to simply be.

We still have a few stays available for Labor Day weekend at Kaluna, with unique accommodations tucked across our 160-acre farm in the North Georgia mountains.

September 4–7, 2026

Come spend the long weekend somewhere a little quieter.

Sometimes wonder is as close as the next cicada, creek or plant waiting to be noticed.

Wilderness Wise is about slowing down, looking closely and discovering just how much there is to learn from the natural world around us.

This Friday, we’ll head creekside to explore water through hands-on activities, then turn our attention to yucca—learning how this remarkable plant can be used to make both cordage and soap.
