We had a guest Tuesday evening. Before our meeting, we fellowship with a meal and Jeremy Cohen of Target Print and Mail joined us for dinner and gave a talk about the Tallahassee of 100 years ago. Target Print had found some old ledger books with entries including Leon #5, the Elks, the Masons, Leon County Sheriff, and many others. It was very interesting to envision the Tallahassee that was before the Depression and it got some of us talking about the history of Leon #5. Thank you Jeremy for sharing with us!

Hunger Fight Tallahassee 2026
Saturday Morning, August 22nd...

"Food for Their Bellies. Books for Their Brains... fight hunger and illiteracy in our community. Every table sponsored and every volunteer team assembled helps provide weekend meals for 16,000 children and age-appropriate books for 4,200 preschoolers."

Our team this year included Mark Swee, Patrick Strauss, Reggie Harmon, Buzz Gifford, Bryan Doxsee, and friends and family!

Today, Brother Bryan and Brother Craig presented a check for $1000 to David Handy, the Executive Director of the Alzheimer's Project.

The Alzheimer's Project is building a network of day care centers for dementia patients. These are free services to the care providers of dementia patients, usually a family member caring for a spouse or parent. Caregivers typically have SO little time for themselves to rest, shop, or take care of themselves, and the Alzheimer's Project helps give them a few hours to catch up. They really do a great service for the caregivers. Leon #5 is very happy to help them fulfil their mission!
