Who are the people that brought this place to life, and what is their story? Well it’s the same story you hear over and over again on this mountaintop. Once upon a time there was a young guy, Phil, staring at a friendly girl, Sarah, in a local pub on a winter’s eve and the rest is history. Phil DiFalco, the chef, was born and raised in Scarsdale, New York. Although he is not originally from the Hu

nter area, his love affair with our beautiful mountaintop began when he was just 3 years old. Spending many weekends with his 3 older brothers and parents at the family’s “country” home, Phil was able to learn how to love the beautiful scenery and serenity this mountaintop could offer him. As for Phil’s culinary story -- his love of all things related to food started at a very young age where you would often find him sitting in the kitchen rather than playing outside to learn some of his family’s traditional recipes with his beloved Grandma Jessie. After graduating from college, he returned home and realized his true passion was in cooking. He decided to pursue his second degree from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. While completing his studies, he landed an externship at the highly rated Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Westchester County. Rated as one of the country’s top Farm to Table restaurants, it was here that he observed a master of farm to table cuisine and ingredients which fueled Phil’s dream to open a place of his own offering the finest and freshest ingredients within close proximity to our mountaintop. Sarah Slutzky, the love of Phil’s life, has a lifelong history with Hunter area thanks to her grandfather, Orville Slutzky, one of the founding owners of Hunter Mountain Ski Bowl. He was known for his hard work, dedication, and forward thinking during his many years at the helm of the machine that is Hunter Mountain Ski Bowl. After Sarah graduated from college with a degree in business, she returned home and decided to use her education to help out with the family business. Her experience in hospitality and guest services from her many years of working at Hunter Mountain have prepped her for being a great partner in their new venture. Phil and Sarah live right on the mountain top with their 4-legged daughter Piper, and a beautiful human baby girl named Capri!

🤎 Well, today’s the day. 🤎
This evening marks our final night of service at Jessie’s Harvest House. The day has come quicker than we ever imagined, but our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for the incredible adventure we’ve shared with you over the past 8 years.

Since announcing our closure, we’ve been deeply touched by the outpouring of love—through your comments, texts, calls, and heartfelt conversations. Hearing how Jessie’s has become a part of your lives, both within and beyond this beautiful community, is something we will cherish forever. We are truly humbled by your kindness and support.

So, what’s next? We’re thrilled to share that you’ll still be able to enjoy Chef Phil’s amazing creations just a few miles down the road. He’ll be joining another beloved, family-run restaurant as the new Executive Chef at Millrock Restaurant in Windham, NY. We hope you’ll make your way over to that side of the mountaintop and continue savoring the delicious dishes he’s known for.

For those joining us tonight, we can’t wait to see you. We’ll be celebrating with drink specials (½-priced beer & wine bottles) and, of course, Chef Phil will be serving up his signature off-menu specials one last time. For those who can’t make it, please know that your love and support mean the world to us—and always will.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. ❤️

To Our Dear Friends, Family, and Guests,

After eight wonderful years, it is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Jessie’s Harvest House Restaurant will be closing its doors next month.

When we opened in 2017, it was with a dream of creating a warm, welcoming place where friends could gather, families could celebrate, and memories could be made over some amazing food and even better company. Over the years, we have been blessed to watch those dreams come true—because of all of you.

In that time, our family has grown—both inside and outside of the restaurant. We welcomed our two daughters into the world, survived the unimaginable challenges of COVID, and, thanks to your support, were able to keep our incredible team together through it all. We’ve celebrated countless birthdays, anniversaries, first dates, and everyday joys with you, and we are humbled to have been part of so many special moments.

Closing this chapter is one of the most difficult decisions we have ever made, but after much thought, we know it is the right choice for our family. While our restaurant will no longer be here, the memories, friendships, and love we’ve shared will always remain.

Our last dinner service will be on September 13th and while we know this is short notice for many of you, we hope to be able to see you all and personally thank you for all of your support and love over these last eight years.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you—for your loyalty, your encouragement, and for making Jessie’s so much more than just a place to eat. It has been our home, and you have been our extended family.

With love and gratitude,
Sarah, Phil, Capri, Juniper and the entire Jessie’s Family ❤️🙏
